The King: Democracy Continues to Consolidate the Foundations of a Constitutional State

Bahrain’s King Hamad bin Esa Al Khalifa affirmed his intention to continue the democratic path and to protect what has been so far accomplished such as the increase in economic development, empowering those with low incomes and promoting the role of the middle class which contributes to solving the problem of unemployment. He also added that the Government is working towards ‘promoting the foundation of a modern constitutional and civil state in accordance with the Constitution, the rule of law, respect for human rights, freedom of expression and empowering Bahraini women’. The King also stressed the importance of ‘achieving a political movement in line with our democratic political development and moving away from individual decisions to collective ones whilst also tackling administrative corruption’.
